TITLE: Instructional Self-Contained Special Education Teacher Grades 4-6

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Illinois Professional Teacher License with an LBS1 ( Learning Behavior Specialist 1 ) endorsement with qualifications to teach in the following areas:

specific learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, mental retardation, Autism, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic impairment, multiple disabilities or other health impairments.

Must have a Bilingual Endorsement or Approval

 

REPORTS TO: Principal, Regional Program Supervisor and Director of Special Education

 

JOB GOAL: To develop comprehensive instructional programs for students with disabilities to meet their maximum potential.

 

AVAILABLE: For the 2013 - 2014 school year

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

§ To participate in the planning of the IEP for each disabled student.

§ To implement or oversee the implementation of all aspects of the IEP's; i.e. goals,

      objectives, mainstreaming, related services, social/emotional behavioral interventions and all other diagnostic evaluation of students on case load.

§ To participate in re-evaluations and provide academic testing as necessary for students enrolled in their classroom.

§ To individualize programming to meet the academic, social/emotional behavioral strengths and weaknesses of students as they work toward the

achievement of grade level curriculum goals.

§ To carry out the responsibilities of the District 99 classroom teachers; i.e. lesson planning, record keeping, parent conferences, in-services, etc.

§ To participate in the annual review and offer recommendations pertaining to the individual needs of the student.

§ To supervise and evaluate the job performance of each program assistant in the classroom.

§ Collaborate, plan and problem solve with teachers of students participating mainstream general education classes.

• To complete all required department and State of Illinois reports pertaining to notifications, IEP development, goals, objectives and progress reports to be in

compliance with mandated timelines and meeting schedules.

• To complete other duties as assigned.

           

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:         Salary and work year according to Master Agreement.
