Scenic & Lighting Design Instructor

ACT, Arts at the Capitol Theatre Performing Arts Magnet High School, is now accepting applications for a Scenic and Lighting Design Instructor. The building has a thrust proscenium theatre that seats 180, a full lighting package with all ETC equipment with over 260 dimmers and is dimmer to circuit 1:1, a full scene shop with freight elevator from street to stage and the completely renovated building prior to the opening of the high school. Job responsibilities include scenic and lighting designs for two main stage plays or musicals and two dance productions over the course of the school year. Teach scenic design and scenic construction, lighting design and electrician classes that use the school productions as teaching models. Organize student crews to run each show, collaborate with the director of acting and dance programs. Opportunities to design for outside rentals that use the facility over the course of year.

 

Applicants must possess excellent time management skills, artistic problem solving ability, collaboration and communication.

 

Minimum requirements:

BA in theatre technology or equivalent field

3-5 years working in the field

Experience teaching in a high school or college format STRONGLY PREFERRED
