DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Must show evidence of being a strong & effective teacher in the classroom. Cooperate with & participate in building initiatives.

2. Has a thorough knowledge of all the teaching/athletic policies approved by the Davenport Board of Education.

3.  Promotes the entire athletic program and adhere to philosophies and policies of West High School.

4.  Must work to form positive professional relationships with students, athletes, coaches, parents, and building staff.

5.  Must be willing to attend camps and clinics and expand knowledge in all aspects of coaching.

6.  Maintains records, season record reports throughout season and turns in information, in a timely manner.

7.  Assists members, school, and colligiate coaches in all recruiting processes.

8.  Develop athletes to their fullest potential, teach basic fundamentals of the sport and progressing to advanced skills.

9.  Monitors, coordinate, and enforce district academic standards and policies and form study tables.

10. Coordinates use and care of equipment and facilities /Assist and organize transportation.

11. Coordinates and maintains a strong unified BFS / weight training program; coordinated with all other athletic teams.

12. Must be an active particiapnt of our building wide speed and agility and Bulgarian workouts.

13. Must work within guidelines established by the MAC Conference and the Iowa High School Athletic Association.

14. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests and grievances through proper channels.  Is aware

      of all public / staff / departmental meetings that require attendance.

15. Maintains / emphasizes discipline and demands disciplined behavior from ALL that are involved in the program.     

16. Provides and organizes adequate supervision before, during and after practices/games for all students.

17. Work with the coaches on all aspects of the Athletic Program 9-12 including the Feeder Falcon Programs.

18. Willing to work in the summer, on weekends, and at other allowable times in order to maintain a top-notch program.

19.  Willingness to perform additional duties as requested by West admnistration.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to push/pull/lift 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods of time.

 

Current Iowa Teaching Licensure and Iowa Coaching Certification.

Previous coaching or collegiate playing experience preferred.

Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the BFS strength and conditioning program and help with weight room supervision.

Must be able to lift/pull/carry up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.

Such alternatives to the above qualfications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
