Required Certifications/Licenses :

Wisconsin certification as a school principal required and Director of Pupil Services/Special Education.  C ertification in special education required.

 

 

Position Purpose :

The Associate Principal is accountable to the principal of the school(s) to which assigned.   The Associate Principal of Special Education assumes administrative tasks as related to special education programs/students as directed by the principal and/or Executive Director of Instruction and Support.

 

 

Formal Education :

Master's Degree from a school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges or an equivalent agency.  

 

E xperience :  

Minimum of three years teaching and/or administrative experience.

 

Fiscal Responsibilities :   

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

 

Knowledge of or willingness to learn about and provide leadership for implementation of RUSD's "North Star" Vision

 

Essential Functions :

 

1.   Assists the principal in serving as the building Local Educational Agency (LEA) representative on the Individual Educational Program (IEP) team.

2.  Serves as a district-wide LEA representative on IEP teams as needed .

3. Assists the principal in the coordination and facilitation of the Student Support Team (SST) referral intervention process.

4.  Represents the building principal at disciplinary meetings involving special education students.

5.  P articipates in conferences/staffing/intakes with teachers, parents and support staff involving special education students.

6 Assists the building principal in the observation and evaluation of special education staff.

7.   Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating staff development activities related to special education.

8.  Assists in the analysis of test data relative to the performance of special education students.

9.  Assists in the development of the building School Improvement Plan (SIP) as related to special education goals and objectives.

10. Assists the principal in ensuring that IEP's implemented for all special education students.

11. Serves as a member of committees pertaining to Special Education as assigned by the Executive Director of Instruction and Support.

12. Assumes any additional responsibilities related to special education as assigned by the principal and/or the Director Executive Director of Instruction and Support.
