School Team Lead- Math and Science
Reports to: School Director
Civitas Schools is an educational management organization, which operates three campuses of Chicago International Charter School (CICS). We serve approximately 2100 students in grades Kindergarten through 12, on three sites: CICS Ralph Ellison High School, CICS Northtown Academy High School, and CICS Wrightwood Elementary School. Position Summary:
The high school team lead
(Department: Math/Science) is
responsible for supporting improved implementation of the curriculum,
instruction and student achievement at the high school level by working
directly with classroom teachers and aides.
The primary lever of change is high quality instructional coaching and
support. Additionally, this position is
responsible for ensuring that teachers have adequate instructional materials
and supplies and understand how to implement high-quality relevant curricula,
instruction, and assessments to support the continued acceleration of student
learning across the content areas. The
Team Lead should be well versed in school, grade, class, and student data and able
to support teachers and teacher teams to be responsive to the needs identified
in this analysis. The Team Lead is
responsible for developing highly collaborative teams; leading department
meetings; setting agendas and facilitating committee and/or sub-department
meetings; provision of regular instructional coaching; participation in
school-wide instructional walk throughs; supporting school-wide assessment
initiatives; participating in integration projects; conducting parent
workshops; and providing professional resources and advise to their teams. The
team lead will also need to teach 1-2 sections of Math Content, in subjects
that are yet to be determined.

observing instruction, providing feedback and instructional coaching that is
focused on using professional teaching standards (especially Charlotte
Danielson's Framework for Teaching) to
support teacher growth in the service of student learning
- Ability
to design assessment systems and data analysis cycles that provide balanced and
accurate information in a timely manner that is effectively used to guide
teacher reflection, learning and planning, inform instruction and increase
student learning.
- Understanding
of and experience in leading professional development that is targeted to the
needs of the school, small group or individual in a manner that demonstrates
best practices in the actual delivery of this professional development.
- Deep
knowledge of curricular models and resources across all content areas.
- Strong
personal presence and communication skills necessary to effectively develop
meaningful professional relationships and interact with a diverse array of
internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly
professional, including integrity and confidentiality.
- Reflective.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years
teaching experience and at least two years as a instructional leader/coach
- Must have ISBE Certification for HS Math with subject area endorsements (Type 9- endorsed at least in Geometry, Algebra)
- Ability to recognize
and support strong instruction based on research-based methods (Familiarity with Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching a plus)
- Strong track record as
a staff developer and/or coach as demonstrated through measured improvements in
teacher expertise or student performance
- Deep knowledge of
instructional and planning methodologies rooted in analysis of data
- Excellent
organizational, planning and implementation skills
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
