Math Teacher (7-12) Long-term Substitute - Elim
Bering
Strait School District is currently accepting applications for a long-term substitute (LTS) opening in Math (7-12) for the first semester of the 2012-13 school year in the
village of Elim. We are beginning to do interviews by Skype,
video conference and other means.
We are a standards-based district, and require progressive, flexible
teachers who are supportive of collaborative models of service
delivery. Successful work or travel experience in cross cultural settings would
be a plus, as would co-teaching, or regular education teaching
experience.
Being comfortable using technology to track student progress, and to
prepare documentation would be a significant advantage. Skills in
Educational Technology would also be a real plus as this school is well
equipped.
Our district offers very competitive salaries, many strong
opportunities for staff development, and an innovative professional
climate. When it comes to unique living and work experiences, we have
some of the best. Check our website for details about our district, as
well as video clips of our villages, and even a forum for posting
questions.
We have a BSSD video of this school and village on our website:

The BSSD iCommunity website is what we use for distance learning, staff
development, and the official documents and forms that staff use on a
day-to-day basis. http://www.bssdonline.org/
We also have two on-line New Teacher Orientation Guides that use a wiki
engine, and are written directly by teachers. One is mostly advice for
new teachers moving to our area, and the other is a general overview of
how our standards-based Bering Strait Instructional Model works: http://wiki.bssd.org/index.php/Moving_to_BSSD http://wiki.bssd.org/index.php/New_Hire_Information http://wiki.bssd.org/index.php/Stuff_for_new_hires_about_the_model JOB DESCRIPTION
