CURRICULUM ASSOCIATE FOR MATH-
Secondary Level
GENERAL STATEMENT
The primary responsibility of
the Secondary Level- Curriculum Associate for Mathematics is
to build staff development capacity 6-12 in the requirements
of Connecticut's Framework for Mathematics. The
Curriculum Associate for Mathematics will work with the
Director for Mathematics and Science to ensure best practice
in mathematics through modeling, demonstration lessons, and
coaching teachers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Build staff development capacity
with key building personnel through modeling, coaching, and
leading action research groups to increase student achievement
in mathematics.
·
Plan and deliver staff development
in mathematics both during the day and before and after school,
in a variety of formats. (For example, study groups around
professional literature, demonstration lessons, workshops,
coaching in classrooms, meeting with teachers to influence
change.)

Facilitate curriculum writing for
mathematics.
·
Collaborate with Program Director
for Math and Science to further district goals.
·
Work with community center tutors
in the area of mathematics.
·
Assist in the planning of district
professional development programs in mathematics.
QUALIFICATIONS
·
Current Connecticut teaching
certificate in Math 7-12 certification required for secondary
position
·
Master's Degree with demonstrated
up-to-date familiarity and practice in mathematics
education.
·
A minimum of five (5) years of
successful classroom experience in mathematics.
·
Demonstrated leadership
qualities.
·
Demonstrated ability to facilitate
and bring groups to a consensus.
·
Ability to help staff to select,
and interpret assessments to inform instruction.
·
Superior communication and
organization skills (oral and written).
·
Ability to work as a member of a
team.
TERM
Three (3) Years.
COMPENSATION/WORK
YEAR
As per the teacher's
contract, 186 days, with an additional stipend of $ 4244 to
cover work before/after the contractual day.
