JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:                      Cultural Coordinator/ Coach for Project CIRCLE

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

1.       Undergraduate degree either B.S or B.A. with three to five years' experience teaching in a K-12 bilingual or ESL classroom.

2.       Demonstrated and excellent communication skills, oral and written. 

3.       Demonstrated experience working with Native American /ELL education programs, policy, and practice at the state or local level, including implementing Title III education program(s).

4.       Demonstrated experience working with Native American students and community members

REPORTS TO:         MREC ELL Program Director

 

JOB GOALS: To work cooperatively with the MREC Project CIRCLE   program director, classroom teachers and community members in planning cultural activities and parental activities that unite these groups in collaborating to promote post secondary success for Native American students in the MREC

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.       Assist in implementation of MREC ELL Circle Project goals and objectives, specifically enhance school/community connections to support student learning.

2.       Assist in development and implementation of ELL professional development and work with local reservation and community members to support the post secondary success of Native American ELL students

3.       Provide training for classroom teachers, parents and community members on collaborative methods that support student learning.

4.       Ability to use computers, software, and other current technology to build materials.

5.       Ability to read and respond to communications.

6.       Ability to compose letters and file accurate reports.

7.       Ability to drive between MREC school districts, and to workshops, meetings, and conferences throughout the state.

8.       Meet with parents,  community  members and classroom teachers to plan supplementary activities for parental involvement in the schools at Standing Rock and White Shield.

9.       Coordinate cultural activities that are authentic to the Lakota and Sahnish (Arikara) people.

10.   Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.

11.   All other duties to be assigned by the MREC ELL program director .
