Lyons Township High School is rich with history and tradition. Since 1888, the school has been a focal point in the commmunities we serve. We at LT are dedicated to meaningful teaching and learning, and committed to fostering the full potential of each student. LTHS serves a community composed of the villages of LaGrange, Western Springs, Countryside, Hodgkins, Indian Head Park, LaGrange Highlands, LaGrange Park, Burr Ridge, and parts of Brookfield and Willow Springs. The District is located approximately 15 miles southwest of Chicago, and serves a population of approximately 80,000 residents. Many of the residents are college graduates and work in professional and managerial positions. A four-year comprehensive high school, we provide a broad and deep range of more than 300 academic offerings at several ability levels. Students are proud of their school and have positive attitudes about learning and teachers. An average class size of 19.8 and a pupil-teacher ratio of approximately 18 to 1 foster the academic potential and growth of each student. All students receive individual and group counseling and are under the guidance of the same counselor and social worker for their high school experience. We also offer an extensive co-curricular program and some of the best school facilities in the country, including computers in every classroom, a nationally recognized library, and award-winning TV and radio stations. Nearly 100 activities and athletics are offered including academic clubs, communication arts, performing arts, IHSA teams, and leadership and service organizations. More than 73 percent of our students participate in one or more activity or sport. Approximately 88 percent of our 300+ certified staff members have at least a master's degree, and our faculty average over 12 years of teaching experience.
