Perspectives High
School of Technology is looking for teachers for its animation high school program starting this Fall. This is a great opportunity to help
nurture the next generation of animators while living and working in a
vibrant city.
Job Summary
Instructor will be
responsible for teaching students the basic digital design elements of character development within a storyline. This holistic program
includes instruction in character and story development, proper development documentation, history of animation, publishing, ethics and monetization
strategies.
Essential Functions
-Assesses the
instructional requirements of students and provides orientation and instruction
in Animation career and technical education related competencies.
-Ensures that
industry standards are incorporated into the educational program.
-Provides training
in the proper use of tools and equipment related to the Animation industry.
-Stays abreast of
technological advances in Animation Development.
-Monitors student
progress and assesses their skills according to standardized measurements.
-Partners with
industry professionals and educational institutions in the development of
learning and training activities.
-Provide an academically rigorous
curriculum that aligns with both Perspectives’ standards and the Illinois
Teaching Standards
-Prepare lesson plans, outlines and/or syllabi
-Guide and offer independent activities to foster proficient oral and
written expression, critical thinking, applications and ethics
-Offer alternative, performance, force-choice and creative assessments
and activities
-Plan and facilitate field studies to support and enhance classroom
curriculum
-Maintain accurate student grades, records and/or portfolios
-Provide input and support grade level, subject matter and instructional
leader led meetings
-Model and teach The Perspectives Way
-Teach and/or facilitate the A Disciplined LifeÓ curriculum
-Implement and monitor both the school uniform and discipline codes
-Cultivate and support parent and family involvement in school
curriculum and school life
-Participate and lead professional development programs
-Participate in CORE and CAMP each summer
-Duties as assigned in support of A Disciplined Life
Minimum Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree
in related field from an accredited college or university
-Demonstrated
understanding of all aspects of the animation development process, from design
through testing
-Experience in animation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of:
-Java, Flash, Silverlight
or HTML 5
-Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite software including Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop
-The modern
methods, theories and practices in the Animation career
area
Ability to:
-Select and
organize curriculum content and to apply appropriate instructional methods
-Implement
assessment tools for effective student evaluations
-Communicate
effectively, both orally and in writing
-Establish
effective working relationships
-Facilitate the transfer
of knowledge to middle school or high school students;
-Develop and foster successful
teacher/student relationships
