MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers individual tests and recommends special class placement when indicated. Works directly with members of the Individual Education Program Team in evaluating students for special placement in district classes. Reevaluates students within exceptional programs as may be needed. Counsels with students and parents relative to academic, social, behavior or other personal problems. Confers with teachers regarding test findings. Aids teachers in preparing educational objectives for children with learning or behavior problems. Provides inservice training for teachers when the need is indicated. Interprets test findings to parents and discusses corrective-remedial-developmental procedures.
Masters degree. Eligible for or possess a California credential authorizing services as a psychologist. Psychological background: Psychological theory, individual diagnosis and testing, case study procedures, case conference techniques and individual and group therapies. Knowledge of educational philosophies, methods and techniques including remedial techniques. Teaching experience or work with exceptional children desirable.
