Job Description:
Oversee the operation, maintenance, security planning and deployment of educational and administrative enterprise software, hardware and system and client services. Plan, manage and supervise daily activities of the Technology Services Department. Coordinate the selection and implementation of enterprise software while maintaining compliance with district and state procedures. Manage all aspects of client activities and procedures including client service and support, project proposal, district web pages, documentation, servers and data storage, price quotes and large purchases, preparation and management of department budget and technology budgets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned): ? Coordinate district information technologies and infrastructure. ? Manage district networks, telecommunications, web pages, email systems, video and television media and distance learning implementations. ? Coordinate enterprise software implementations and updates. ? Assist with master schedules for all schools. ? Maintain district software and hardware inventories. ? Coordinate and support training, acquisition and maintenance in all areas of technology. ? Coordinate the development and implementation of the District Technology Plan ? Develop Action Plans for the Bozeman School District Long Range Strategic Plan. ? Assist with developing Bozeman School District policies and procedures. ? Establish process to monitor and inform staff of evolving technologies and their implications. ? Collaborate with Administrators, Principals, Technology Mentor Teachers and Instructional Coaches on available technology and its use. ? Direct the centralized acquisition and processing of the central media materials library. ? Submit and oversee the yearly Schools and Libraries Universal Service eRate application process, following all Federal, State and District policies for purchases. ? Participate in district technology committees and regularly attend the Instructional Cabinet meetings. ? Coordinate with Facilities Director to design technology infrastructure for construction projects. ? Acquisition of yearly technology hardware and software purchases, including creating and coordinating necessary RFP’s. ? Plan and supervise the Technology Services department budget.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Hires, supervises and evaluates staff members of the Technology Services Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Management or a related field. Management/supervisory and experience managing a large budget. Minimum of 5 years experience in a technology field. Demonstrated knowledge of database management, enterprise reporting systems as well as experience in management of client support services.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certification preferred. Acceptable certificates: ITIL V.3 Foundations, MCIT, MCDBA, CCNA
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical manuals, professional journals or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present written and oral information and respond to questions from groups of administrators and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability top work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to operate personal and mainframe computers. Ability to type. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustees policies.
