Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 is located in southern Lake County, Illinois approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Chicago in a mature community with a good blend of commercial and residential development. The district covers approximately seven square miles and serves students from Buffalo Grove, Prairie View, and unincorporated sections of Deerfield and Wheeling. The student population for the 2008-2009 school year is approximately 2,074. The organizational pattern of the schools is: Pritchett School – Pre-Kindergarten through Fourth Grade; Tripp School – Kindergarten through Fourth Grade; Meridian Middle School – Fifth and Sixth Grade; and Aptakisic Junior High School – Seventh and Eighth Grade. Each building has a full time principal and a full time assistant principal. District 102 is a feeder district for Stevenson High School District 125. The district administrative staff consists of a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Assistant Superintendent for Business, Director of Teaching and Learning, Director of Student Services, Bilingual and Grants Coordinator, Human Resources Coordinator, and Chief Technology Officer. District 102 is well known for the care and concern provided each child, as well as for programs that foster academic excellence. The schools offer a broad, comprehensive program of instruction and multiple opportunities for a rich variety of support services and co-curricular programs for all children. Students enjoy school, actively participate in the learning process, and take pride in their work.
