Rochester Public Schools is seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity using web-based technologies as a Programmer/Analyst.
Job Summary: *This position will work within Technical Support Services (TSS) to develop and maintain applications and programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of staff and students at Rochester Public Schools. *Provide primary support for the district's Intranet (535). Develop and maintain web-based applications and tools including Java, JSP, HTML, Active Directory scripting (VBS and LDAP); SQL server 2000/2008, and SSIS, as well as support of existing internal applications. *Work collaboratively with other departments to gather requirements and develop applications, generate reports (Crystal Reports), and create extracts to exchange information between enterprise student and administrative systems, and data sharing through Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF). *As part of the Network Services team, this position also includes rotational team responsibilities for providing network support coverage during standard business hours and other duties within the level of responsibility of position as assigned by the supervisor. Server technologies include VMware, Windows Server (2003/2008), Linux Server.
Qualifications: *Minimum two (2) year degree in Computer Science, IS/IT, Engineering, or related field; four (4) year degree preferred, or pursuing (4) year degree. *One (1) year experience as programmer analyst, report developer, and/or database administrator in client/server environment. * Demonstrated knowledge of Java, VBS, SQL and Active Directory. *Demonstrated ability to gather customer requirements, design, create, maintain and support Web-based applications on Intranet and Internet platforms. *Desire to learn and apply new technologies, yet flexible to support existing programs. *Excellent customer service and time management skills.
