Nature and Scope of Job: The
Community Liaison will work in schools with high populations of
newcomer/refugee students to enhance parent involvement programs and
collaboration with school and community organizations that are research-based
and meet the needs of students at each school.
Education, Licenses, Certification or Formal Training:

BA degree in Communications or
Social Work preferred.
·
Or any other combination of related
education, experience or training that enhances the ability to pass the Work
Keys exam.
·
Valid Colorado driver’s license,
good driving record, and reliable insured vehicle.
Qualifications: Demonstrate respect for and understanding of students and
families with a positive attitude. Strong
human relation skills including excellent verbal and non-verbal communication
skills. Knowledge of community and
available resources. Bilingual skills
preferred. Multicultural awareness. Organizational and record keeping skills. Ability to manage time and meet obligations
with minimal supervision. Ability to
maintain confidentiality. Ability to
perform all functions of the position.
Essential Job Functions:

Provide
accommodations for academic support in English Language Acquisition classes and
core classes.
·
Support
student advocacy and mediation between student needs and teacher/staff
expectations.
·
Provide
educational opportunities by connecting families to adult educational
opportunities in the community and informing and assisting graduates about
post-secondary options.
·
Help
families understand the educational system, overall expectations, and how to
best support their student.
·
Assist
families/students with housing, food, clothing, and transportation needs.
·
Facilitate
connections between students/families and various resources in the community.
·
Work and
collaborate with the administrative team, office personnel, coordinators and
teachers in the implementation of the District parent involvement plan.
·
Develop
partnerships with service providers in the Greeley community and maintain
contact with business/support agencies to develop partnerships for assisting
eligible children/families.
·
Develop and
maintain relationships with students, families and staff.
·
Provide
resources for parents at each school site.
·
Performs other duties as assigned.
