QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Equivalent to a degree in Occupational Therapy and hold a NBCOT certification and license as an Occupational Therapist.

Valid driver's license

Will consider a COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)

 

SUMMARY

Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy program in the Community Consolidated School District to facilitate development of special education students.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

·          Coordinates progress reports and helps collect data for Individualized Educational Plans.

·          Keeps accurate records.

·          Maintains current records in accordance with school, state and Federal policies.

·          Participates in evaluation and assessment using standardized measures, formal and informal tests and checklists.

·          Keeps accurate records of therapy caseloads, inventory, and equipment.

·          Develops and disseminates established functional therapeutic programs to the educational staff.

·          Establishes, implements and monitors therapy goals.

·          Collaborates in monitoring work and school environments for accessibility.

·          Instructs educational staff concerning use of adaptive equipment, positioning programs, and the integration of therapy goals into classroom and academic activities to enhance function.

·          Assures that proper positioning and handling techniques are carried out correctly across all environments.

·          Supervises a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

·          Provides practice in functional, educational and activities of daily living.

·          Coordinates participation in sensory, motor, educational, and social activities designed to help students' persons develop physical and mental functioning.

·          Consults with other members of team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.

·          Selects constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest to upgrade students to maximum independence and assist them to take maximum advantage of educational programs

·          Teaches individuals skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates individual's progress.

·          Designs and constructs special equipment for individual and suggests adaptation of individual's work-living environment.

·          Requisitions supplies and equipment.

·          Conducts training programs or participates in training other workers in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with experience.
