Licensing Specialist- EDP

Primary Purpose:

Under direct supervision provide assistance specifically related to licensing standards for the efficient operation of the Extended Day Program.

Qualifications (Experience/ Education/Certification):

Minimum of three (3) years of successful afterschool experience; Must be able to be recognized as a Operation Director as described in the Minimum Standards for School-Age and Before and After-School Programs  under the guidelines set forth by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Service (http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Child_Care_Standards_and_Regulations/default.asp); Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Major Responsibilities:

§   Prepare and maintain required documentation related to child care licensing; maintain computerized files using personal computer including reports, employee rosters, and professional development documentation.

§   Assist with preparation of materials required for child care licensing; prepare documentation related to licensing standards; provide clerical assistance as needed; maintain confidentiality.

§   Assist to build common vision for program improvement with staff. Direct planning activities, professional development and put strategies in place with staff to ensure high level of implementation of licensing standards.

§   Identify, analyze, and apply research findings (e.g., effective school correlates, After School Alliance, Department of Family and Protective Services, Child Care Management Services) to promote program improvement.

§   Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students. Recognize excellence and achievement.

§   Monitor EDP site operational processes to ensure that program activities/curriculum are related to program outcomes.

§   Ensure that school/program rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with EDP Parent Handbook, elementary Student Code of Conduct and elementary student handbook.

§   Perform other duties as assigned.

§   Conserve electricity as outlined in the districts energy management plan.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

§   Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures.

§   Knowledge of administrative support and file maintenance techniques.

§   Knowledge of basic accounting principles and office management.

§   Skill in communicating effectively with others.

§   Skill in effective customer service.

§   Skill in working with various types of equipment including, but not limited to personal computers, fax machines, calculators, printers, and multi-lined phone system.

§   Skill in working with word processing and spreadsheet computer applications.

§   Skill in working in collaborative team based environments.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):

Prolonged use of computer; repetitive hand motions; maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift and/or carry at least 20lbs.  Must be able to work the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
