Job Summary:

Responsible for the registration of students for library participation and to circulate books at a school library; shelves books properly; keeps the card catalog in order; prepares daily and monthly library circulation reports; prepares a yearly book, equipment and materials inventory; repairs books, mounts maps and pictures; assists in processing of books, equipment and material at district level; circulates materials and equipment to teachers; provides an attractive environment in the library and do other work as required.


Qualifications:

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; knowledge of typing, filing, correspondence, spelling and English, and simple mathematical computations. Ability to learn library operations, procedures, equipment and must score satisfactory (85%) on the district screening test and be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, faculty and other employees.


Salary and Terms of Service:

Salary range (22) $13.23 to $16.66 per hour, eight (8) steps, seven (7) hours per day, five (5) days per week. Holidays, sick leave, and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical and vision insurance plans are prorated according to the number of hours worked. Prepaid life insurance plan for employee only, prorated according to the number of hours worked.

Application, resume, California high school diploma dated 1981 or later or a Certificate of Proficiency, and valid typing certificate (within one year from an accredited institution) must be on file in the Personnel Office on or before June 6, 2012, in order to be considered for this position.  It shall be the applicant's responsibility to supply copies of their resume, certificates of proficiency, letters of recommendation and any other materials desired to be included in the application.  District screening test will be given Wednesday,  June 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the District Office Board Room.  If you do not have a passing score on file, contact the Personnel Department to reserve a testing space.  Please be prompt.


Selection Procedure:
All applications will be screened and interviews scheduled for qualified applicants. If after initial interviews a suitable applicant is not found, the search will continue. As required by California State Law should you be employed by the District, your fingerprints will be taken and submitted to the Justice Department and the FBI for a background check. Processing fee will be at applicant’s expense.
