Applicants must possess a college four-year degree, a
valid South Carolina Driver's License and reliable
transportation. Applicants should also possess a basic knowledge
of the development of young children, flexibility in scheduling,
a high level of confidentiality and the ability to demonstrate
cultural sensitivity. Excellent computer skills.
Scope and duties of position.
PAT Parent Educators will be expected to visit assigned families
according to the Born to Learn program model schedule. These home
visits will require the Parent Educator to model for the parent
appropriate ways to verbally interact with his/her child, to
create an atmosphere in which the parent feels comfortable in
participating, to respect the privacy of all families visited and
to maintain a non-judgmental attitude toward program families. In
addition to providing these direct intervention services, Parent
Educators will write an anecdotal report for each home visit,
organize paperwork and submit reports and timesheets on deadline.
Parent educators will work independently and responsibly, will
exercise appropriate concern for safety of self and others in
personal conduct and will follow appropriate legal, ethical and
