Will work with students, staff, and report to the building
administrator.
Job Summary
: The economics teacher will cultivate, and foster a love for
economics and entrepreneurship.
The purpose of the
economics teacher is
:
Ø
To support the mission and vision for the school.
Ø
To represent our school and district while providing leadership
for cutting edge development at the elementary level in
economics.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ø
Teach students in grades K-5 on a two week rotation basis.
Ø
Assist the leadership team on economics class schedules.
Ø
Provide classroom teachers economic lesson plans for the weeks
that they do not come to economic class.
Ø
Participate in Money Smart Week by working closely with the
indentified business and community partners.
a.
Plan and implement the Money Smart Week activities which includes
but is not limited to: Provide daily activities for teachers and
students during this week, plan for speakers to discuss career
activities, plan a parent night during this week and participate
in the money shreds contest in conjunction with the Kansas City
Federal Reserve Bank.
Ø
Assist with the monetary school wide system
Ø
Plan and assist with the school trading post
Ø
Develop a schedule for Meritrust Credit Union to take student
deposits twice a month.
Ø
Ensure each classroom has Economics materials and an economic
word wall
Ø
Assist grades 4
<SUP>th</SUP>
and 5
<SUP>th</SUP>
with their Micro - Society and weekly fundraiser sales.
Ø
Be willing to facilitate inservices and book studies on
economics
Ø
Attend Economic Workshops offered by Wichita State
University.
Ø
Create bi-weekly economic parent newsletters
Ø
Administer economic pre and post test
Ø
Update parents on economic progress using the economic progress
report every nine weeks
Ø
Be knowledgeable of the latest smartboard Stock Market online
games for students.
