Position Summary:   Director of all aspects of the Platte Valley High School Media Center.  Director of A+ Courseware Program.  Technology support person.  Academic Intervention support person.   (FACULTY POSITION)

 

Qualifications:

            Library Science degree or related experience;

            Information Technology degree or related experience;

            Or alternatives to qualifications as deemed by the Board of Education

 

  • Administrative:

o    Establishes annual and long-range goals for the media center

o    Establishes district policies and procedures for the media center

o    Administers annual budget

o   Develops goals for the building's collection development

o   Seeks input from staff and students with regard to collection development and equipment needs

o   Evaluates, selects, and orders materials for media center

  • Instructional:

o   Promotes informational literacy standards through collaborative planning with teachers (as time allows)

o   Helps students to develop attitudes, habits, and skills that lead to lifelong library use

o   Serves as a resource person to administration, staff, and students (i.e. research projects, recreational reading, etc.)

  • Media Technology:

o   Is proficient in the use of media center technologies and information retrieval systems (i.e. Spectrum, the library management system, CD Rom products, the internet, online databases, email, voicemail, word processing, network applications, power point, etc.)

o   Investigates and evaluates new products, services, and equipment for media center use.

o   Understands and uses technology in student learning and professional development.

  • AV Coordinator:

o   Responsible for the selection, organization, distribution, and maintenance of classroom equipment

  • Professionalism:

o   Has a working knowledge of state and national legislation that affects media center programs (i.e. e-rates, grants, filtering, information literacy standards)

o   Serves on committees as needed

o   Serves as a resource to the district community (i.e. provides information on copyright, intellectual freedom, changes in media center services, etc.)

o   Provides materials for the professional growth of the faculty

  • Alternative High School (Director):

o    Responsible for overall operation of the alternative program and other related educational opportunities for at-risk students

o   Develop and enforce student/school/personnel policies, discipline management, documentation and follow-through

o   Foster positive relationships and communication with parents, community members and administrators

o   Ability to be trained on the A+ program with eventual mastery of the on-line program

·          Technology Support:

o   Troubleshoot building problems thoroughly before forwarding to district technicians, including checking for hardware errors or damage, confirming that software is properly installed and checking cable connections to the hardware

o   Perform routine maintenance on building hardware as directed by the district technology department, including but not limited to, cleaning of dirt and dust, hardware maintenance procedures, and reimaging computers

o   Maintain an inventory listing of all technology hardware and software in the buildings, sharing that with the district technology office for inclusion in the district databases and for fixed assets reporting

o   Install hardware and software as directed by the district technology department
