Serves as an information specialist, teacher, program administrator, and instructional consultant to students and teachers;

Provides staff development opportunities for teachers/staff pertaining to effective use of the media center and materials


Job Summary:

  • Selects materials for the media center and its program which support the goals and curriculum of the school and ensures media center materials are accessible to students and teachers
  • Collaborates with teachers in the development of instructional materials used to support student achievement
  • Provides instruction in the use of information, communication, and technology skills using print and non-print resources for whole classes, small groups, individual students, and teachers
  • Collaborates with teachers on curriculum planning and the design of quality instructional experiences for all learners
  • Collaborates with teachers on the delivery and evaluation of quality instructional activities to students in the use of the media center and its resources
  • Instructs students on how to locate, access, and evaluate appropriate information in various formats
  • Helps students to develop good study habits, to acquire independence in learning, and to gain skills in the techniques of inquiry and critical evaluation
  • Develops and maintains a collection of quality instructional materials and educational resources in all content areas that are relevant to and supportive of the school curriculum
  • Manages the fiscal budget and resources for the media center program effectivelyServes as an instructional leader in the school
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree required
  • S-5 certification in Media Services required
  • Ability to select and manage resources while supporting the instructional program
  • Ability to use and integrate technology as needed in the performance of all duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate quality instruction and programs for students
  • Knowledge of the curriculum, instructional methods, and goals of the school
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  • Ability to manage financial and material resources effectively
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal


Required Experience:

 

  • 0-1 year(s) of classroom experience and/or experience working in a media center environment
