QUALIFICATIONS:   This position requires possession of a current Basic Certificate as issued by the State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training ( POST ), and possession of a valid Class "C " California State Drivers License.

Must have knowledge of modern law enforcement methods and procedures, criminal investigation methods and techniques, criminal law with a particular emphasis on the apprehension, arrest, and due process procedures, knowledge of Federal, State and local codes and ordinances pertaining to juveniles, as well as the knowledge of report writing methods.

                                                                                                               

Must possess the skill to effectively perform a variety of law enforcement work involved in patrolling District campuses and maintaining order, preventing crime, and assuring student safety. Must be able to read, interpret, and effectively apply State, Federal, District policies, rules, laws, and ordinances; accurately observe and remember faces, names, numbers, and places; gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and evidence, draw logical conclusion, and make proper recommendations. Prepare detailed and accurate written reports; direct, oversee, and coordinate the work of others; effectively coordinate crime/crime prevention functions and activities with local law enforcement agencies and officers.    Must have the ability to meet POST physical requirements. 

Three years of recent experience as a Peace Officer for a California Police or Sheriff's Agency.   Completion of college level course work in Criminal Justice or a closely related field is desirable .    

A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT, PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.   MUST SUBMIT WITH APPLICATION A CURRENT COPY OF BASIC P.O.S.T. CERTIFICATE ISSUED THROUGH A P.O.S.T. CERTIFIED POLICE AGENCY.

 

DUTIES OF POSITION:   Patrols a District campus, maintains order and prevents crime; enforces rules and regulations governing the use of school buildings, grounds, and adjacent area; interviews witnesses and victims of crime and performs criminal investigations.   Employees in this class receive general supervision from a school site administrator or his/her designate within a framework of overall policies and procedures. May direct, oversee, and supervise the work of others in a lead supervisory capacity.

 

STARTING SALARY:                 $4,742.23 (monthly)

 

NUMBER OF MONTHS:             11 (to begin as soon as possible)

NUMBER OF HOURS:                8 (daily working hours 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
