SECRETARIES WITHIN THE EVSC BARGAINING UNIT APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE PLACED ACCORDING TO CONTRACT
SUMMARY: Serves the assistant principal dean by processing and maintaining student attendance and discipline records and completing other tasks of the dean’s office as requested.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Answers routine phone inquiries, takes messages, routes calls.

Types, prepares, and creates reports as related to the needs of the dean regarding due processes, attendance, and discipline.

Operates standard office equipment, e.g., computer (word processing and data entry), typewriter, telephone, calculator, and copy machines.

Adheres to policy/legal regulations regarding release of children to custodial parents, guardian, or other authorized person.
-
Prepares and delivers due process materials.

Notifies parents and students of AEA and Saturday school.
-
Maintains and reviews attendance daily.
-
Enters all discipline referrals and generates correspondence pertaining to referrals.

Prepares all call slips for dean.

Schedules dean’s meetings and maintains his calendar.

Presents a pleasant, helpful attitude toward staff, students, parents, and visitors.

Maintains regular attendance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous office experience preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, instructions, and documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to speak effectively with good grammar before groups of people and with individuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Excellent communication and people skills. Ability to operate personal and mainframe computers and related software (Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to operate a fax machine, copier, modems, and telephone. Ability to process purchase orders, requisitions, invoices, and payroll information. Ability to interact positively with staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to work independently, to function effectively in a multi-task environment, and to interact positively with the public. Ability to perform duties with awareness of and compliance with related corporation policies and state requirements. Experience with AS400 preferred.
