Overview: The expectation
of the coaching staff is to teach the skills and techniques of lacrosse. Additionally, the Head Coach will provide the
necessary guidance, advice and training necessary to teach and build good
sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to the individual
athletes and the team as a whole. This
position provides an opportunity to serve as a strong, positive role model for
our young athletes.
Qualifications:
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of sound principles and rules governing the
sport of lacrosse
- Must demonstrate commitment to students, community and instructional
leadership, while promoting positive character and school spirit
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Previous coaching experience in lacrosse preferred
- Must be CPR certified
Responsibilities:
- Conducts try-outs and informs team candidates about eligibility
requirements
- Determines team membership
- Ensures all athletes meet eligibility requirements before and during
season
- Plans/supervises practices and games
- Adheres to DIAA rules/regulations and District’s policies/procedures
- Ensures discipline and sportsmanship behavior at all times
- Helps oversee safety conditions of facility and report issues to
Athletic Director
- Motivates athletes/coaching staff and encourages school spirit
- Supervises locker rooms before and after practices and games
- Directs/supervises the activities of the assistant coach(es)
- Coordinates ordering, maintaining and storing athletic equipment
- Reviews with coaching staff the assessment of how season unfolded
- Files report at end of season
