PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist with the maintenance of a safe and orderly school environment for students and staff; protect and secure all property, equipment, buildings, etc., located at the school campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
1. High school diploma or GED certificate
2. Texas Commission on Private Security (TCPS) Level Two Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
1. Demonstrate competence and willingness to perform assigned duties
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Patrol and supervises hallways, restrooms, entrance ways, parking lots, driveways, and other areas of the school.
2. Report rule violations and offenders to school administrators and SRO officer.
3. Monitor campus pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
4. Work with MPD/MCISD/SRO Police Officers to keep the building clear of people not on official school business.
5. Inspects all doors, windows, parked cars or any suspicious conditions.
6. Stop disturbances and undue distractions on school grounds.
7. Assist law enforcement officers and complete affidavits as necessary.
8. Participate in training, orientation, and maintain, at own expense Level Two Certification (TCPS).
9. Confer with MPD/MCISD Police Officers on matters of concern, and notify authorities of any situation requiring attention.
10. Prepare written reports of incidents; keep current on school laws and policies which affect students and staff.
11. Works cooperatively with other security officers, SRO officers, and campus staff to promote a safe school environment.
12. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal and by the SRO Officer.
13. Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Mental Demands:
Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English; emotional control; exhibit rapid mental decision making ability defuse disturbances or distractions.
Physical Demands:
Strenuous walking, standing, lifting, and or climbing. Ability to operate a motor vehicle; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination; may be subjected to adverse and hazardous conditions; works outdoors in varying climate conditions.
