Itinerant Principal - Early Childhood Education Programs - Nome

Bering Strait School District is now accepting applications an Itinerant Counselor for the 2012-13 school year. This
position will require travel to all 15 of BSSD's villages, but be
based out of Nome. We are currently doing
interviews by Skype, video conference and other means.
Being comfortable using technology to track student progress, and to
prepare documentation would be a significant advantage. BSSD utilizes a
comprehenisve web database for tracking student progress called DART,
technology is used for most day-to-day tasks. The district has an
employee purchase program for computers, and an excellent technology
infrastructure. All classrooms are wirelessly connected to the Internet.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Itinerant
Principal

Childhood Education Programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Type
"B" Alaska Administrative Certificate required.
2.
Minimum of three years of administrative experience at the district
office or principal level preferred.
3.
Administrative experience in rural Alaska preferred.
4.
Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
5. Ability
to travel to villages within the Bering Strait School District.
6.
Experience providing staff development preferred.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
1.
Collaborate with existing Early Childhood Education programs and
Head Start.
2.
Travel to each BSSD ECE site for supervision, collaboration and
support of the programs.
3. Evaluate
ECE teacher performance as prescribed in BSSD negotiated agreement.
4. Aid
staff with professional and instructional training support including
modeling of best practice.
5. Monitor
compliance with grant requirements.
6.
Communicate regularly and work with site principals and district
office
personnel.
7.
Perform other duties as assigned.
