PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

To manage the effective use of the open access lab and provide assistance to teaching staff and students in the lab.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

TEA certification requirements

No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 Requirements for Paraprofessionals that include one of the following:

·         completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; or

·         obtained an associate's degree; or

·         met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment -

knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or

knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics

readiness, as appropriate

High School Graduate or GED

Experience:

Working knowledge of hardware, software, and networks

Experience working in a school environment preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions

Sensitivity and flexibility in working with adults and students

Skills in scheduling organization and time management

Dependability regarding punctuality and attendance

Communicate effectively (verbal and written)

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Maintains and ensures the effective use of the open access lab.
  • Works with the Campus Technology Contact in scheduling the lab and assisting teachers in conducting computer training for class projects in the lab.
  • Maintains hardware, installs software and keeps lab and equipment clean for the successful utilization of the open access lab.
  • Keeps staff informed of lab schedule and encourages the initiation of new computer projects.
  • Assists participating teachers in the implementation and development of curriculum units with technology integration.
  • Serves as a technology resource person for campus staff.
  • Maintains knowledge which is current on computer training, emerging technologies and internet projects.
  • Communicates with and assists the Campus Technology Support Specialist at the campus.
  • Ability and willingness to observe professional and ethical work standards and handle confidential and security sensitive information.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED: 

 

  • Copier, personal computer, typewriter, audio visual equipment, server, network equipment, scanner, video projector, printers, and zip drives
