Qualifications: Minimum of five years of successful teaching
experience. Educational leadership experiences preferred. Candidates must possess a master’s or
advanced degree from an accredited college or university. The successful
candidate must possess or qualify for the appropriate administrative license.
Salary
Range:
$74,000 - $87,000 depending on qualifications and experience 210 day
contract. A comprehensive benefit
package is also provided.

Position Description
Position Title: Elementary School Principal
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent
Date: March 2009
SUMMARY:
Provides instructional leadership to the school community including:
curriculum planning, review and implementation, and professional
development. Responsible for building
administration. Ensures the safety and welfare of both students and faculty.
Maintains open and positive communication with all members of the school
community. Facilitates comprehensive
school wide annual planning to foster excellence in education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
Encourages all students to perform at their
highest level.
Management and
Supervision of all building personnel.
Develops the master
schedule including the development of class schedules and assignment of
students.
Resolves staff
problems through the use of conflict resolution
Provides adequate
support to teachers.
Supervises students
during instructional and extra-curricular activities.
Evaluates performance
of teachers, programs and staff.
Plans and facilitates
professional development for faculty as needed.
Prepares and manages
the school budget.
Maintain relations
with parents, parent groups, school volunteers and community agencies.
Implements policy and
procedure established the Board of Trustees.
Follow guidelines
established by the State and Federal Government.
Communicates
effectively with all members of the school community.
Coordinate cleaning
and maintenance activities for facility and site with District Facilities
Manager and Custodial Services Manager
Develops
and administers a comprehensive improvement plan that guides all instructional
programs and activities in the school.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and supervises
all employees in the Elementary School. Is responsible for the overall
direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable
laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and mentoring employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing
/affirming and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
M.A. and three years
experience in teaching and administration.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Teaching
Certificate with appropriate Administrative Endorsement and special course work
related to Elementary Administration.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read,
analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,
business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,
customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate
figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of
basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define
problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research
and theory in specific field. Ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and
the community. Ability to communicate
clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of
all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
