JOB DESCRIPTION
LITERACY COACH
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Connecticut Teaching certificate
2. 097 or 102 certification is highly desirable
3. At least 30 months of successful classroom teaching experience
REPORTS TO:
Coordinator of Language Arts
JOB GOAL:
To improve literacy instruction and performance through collaboration with teachers and support personnel
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coach/model/collaborate on a daily basis with teachers and other staff for the purpose of improving literacy instruction at the classroom level
2. Support the district wide reading philosophy and curriculum and communicate this information to the school staff
3. Interpret, as appropriate, assessment results and data concerning student performance and use this information to support staff in making instructional decisions
4. Participate in grade level and school meetings to provide guidance and support regarding the acquisition of literacy skills
5. Take an active role in developing and presenting professional development programs based on school/district need
6. Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day including provision of evening literacy programs
7. Serve on school and district committees
8. Continue to enhance professional expertise through participation in professional growth activities including staying current in research and best practices in literacy instruction
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As agreed between the Rocky Hill Teachers’ Association and the Board of Education
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Rocky Hill Teacher Evaluation Plan
