JOB DESCRIPTION

MATH COORDINATOR




QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Connecticut Teaching certificate in Administration and Supervision (092) and in Mathematics (029)
  2. At least three years of successful teaching experience
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, administrators and the public
  4. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and curriculum knowledge
  5. Knowledge of tests and measurements and the analysis/interpretation of data
  6. Ability to write and evaluate curriculum
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of Common Core Standards, current research, and best practices
  8. Knowledge of current technology and computer resources


REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

JOB GOAL:

To provide leadership, implementation and coordination of the math program K-12

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work directly with teachers and administrators to develop, implement and coordinate the mathematics program
  2. Design and facilitate curriculum development ensuring the alignment and articulation between levels
  3. Recommend adoption and use of varied instructional materials, including textbooks, reference works, kits, trade books and technology
  4. Help to improve the quality of mathematics instruction through observation and feedback, modeling, demonstration and organization of resources
  5. Analyze various sources of data to determine instructional strengths and weaknesses and curricular implications
  6. Plan and provide professional development and training
  7. Meet with teachers on a regular basis
  8. Supervise and evaluate math tutors and paraprofessionals
  9. Assist with the orientation and training of new teachers
  10. Consult with members of the SRBI team for individual case conferences
  11. Use data to maintain records of student growth and instructional efficacy
  12. Participate in school/district Data Team and other teams, as necessary
  13. Serve as a resource to parents and community
  14. Communicate with parents and community through formal presentation, electronic documents and/ or written messages
  15. Serve as a resource on school/district committees
  16. Foster the integration of math skills into the curriculum
  17. Inventory textbooks and related materials
  18. Coordinate the purchase of math materials and the preparation of the math budget
  19. Develop grant proposals and manage their implementation
  20. Attend all required meetings
  21. Keep up-to-date on research and instruction in the area of mathematics
  22. All other duties as deemed appropriate by Administration

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Rocky Hill Administrators’ Evaluation Plan
