Qualifications:

• Strong coursework or background in Language Arts
• Strong understanding and belief in "standards"
• Previous experience with or ability to work with middle school students
• Previous experience with or ability to incorporate writing across content areas
• Knowledge and willingness to incorporate authentic assessments (rubrics, portfolios, student-centered exhibitions/presentations)
• Previous experience with or ability to incorporate differing learning styles, cooperative learning and technology in the classroom
• Computer literate
• Previous experience with or ability to network with the business community to foster alliances with students and community members
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi-age grouping as well as developing individualized educational plans and differentiated instruction
• Experience fostering multiculturalism in the classroom
• Strong but dignified research based classroom management skills
• Strong evidence of being a "team player"
• Knowledge of and/or experience with the RtI Process
• Knowledge of and/or experience in using data to drive instruction
