ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS POSITION TITLE: Marching Band Assistant
EFFECTIVE: 2012 - 2013 school year Seasonal POSITION SUMMARY: This
position requires attendance and participate in all rehearsals and
performances. Responsible for teaching percussion to students.
Collaborate with Director regarding rehearsal
activities/strategies. Implement daily activities for students.
Coordinate performance schedules. Assume all responsibilities for
Director in his/her absence. Develop and promote good community
relations among stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Create a positive learning environment and
effective management structures to purposefully promote and foster
effective teaching, learning, and student achievement. Create an
instructional learning environment that establishes routines and
provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation,
and originality. Collaborate with specialists and provide unique
learning opportunities such as inclusion and research based
effective practices for students with special needs. Promote a
learning environment respecting the dignity of the child that is
perceived by students as fair and consistent. Incorporate
additional learning opportunities for advanced and non-proficient
students. Ensure all processes, procedures and data collection are
highly organized and effective with optimal use of time. Motivate,
engage, and empower learners to track and monitor his/her learning.
Provide quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific and
timely feedback to students that encourages them to perform at
their highest level. Effectively communicate with parents and staff
about student's progress and opportunities. Utilize technology
and/or other avenues to communicate to stakeholders (website,
podcasts etc). Establish student, staff and parental rapport that
allows for a proactive response to potential problems. Actively
participate in all staff meetings. Apply and implement knowledge,
skills and new understandings to improve instructional programming.
Advocate for and lead initiatives that will enhance student success
in and out of school. Uses professional Code of Ethics and
standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Possible supervision of
support personnel. Conduct supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to interview
participation, training/development, assign and direct work,
performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.
BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Prioritize and schedule
work tasks independently. Create and implement effective and
efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures,
instructional groups, transition materials and supplies). Maintain
accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state
guidelines, and school system policy. Review processes for
improvement opportunities and make changes as needed to ensure
quality of instruction. The education/training/experience,
license/certification, general expectations, physical demands, and

essential functions. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Previous
marching band coaching experience (preferred). Bachelor's degree.
Master's degree (preferred). English fluency will be determined
through the interview process and licensure. LICENSES OR
CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado Driver's License. Valid Colorado
Teaching License with a Music endorsement. Valid ACEP (American
Coaching Effectiveness Program) Certification/CHSAA (Colorado High
School Activities Association) Certification. Valid CPR and First
Aid Certification (preferred). GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Is flexible.
Has computer/technology skills. Has the ability to work with
students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Has the ability to
work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers. Has the ability
to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. Has
the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of
close supervision. Has the ability to effectively communicate with
the School District community. Has the ability to analyze,
instruct, negotiate, coordinate, communicate, problem solve and use
interpersonal skills. Has the ability to compare, compute,
synthesize and evaluate. Has the ability to meet attendance
standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential
functions. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain a generally positive
attitude. Observe all District policies and procedures. Adhere to
federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies. ESSENTIAL
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten)
pounds. Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds. Frequent
sitting, bending, walking, and standing. Occasional stooping,
kneeling, squatting, and reaching. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work
environment is high energy and may often appear chaotic. Mostly
clean and comfortable. REPORTS TO: Band Director or designee.
LOCATION: Englewood High School SALARY: $17.95 per hour. CLOSING
