Elementary Teacher - 1st & 2nd Grade Teacher

The Council Bluffs Community School District is seeking applicants for the following position for the 2012-13 school year:

1<SUP>st</SUP> and 2<SUP>nd</SUP> Grade Teacher

Crescent Elementary School

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Valid Iowa Elementary K-6 Teacher License

CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED:

·         Implements an integrated approach to language arts

·         Is aware of students’ abilities, and adjusts curriculum and grouping to meet their needs

·         Is fair and consistent in classroom management, guiding students to grow in self-esteem, responsibility and self-control

·         Demonstrates flexibility, patience and enthusiasm

·         Is organized, well-planned and prepared daily

·         Promotes open communication and involvement with parents

·         Has strong interpersonal skills

·         Is open to professional growth and development

·         Visual and auditory acuity and mobility to move about the building

·         Desire to work cooperatively with other staff members in a team setting

·         Ability to apply skills learned in professional development

·         Knowledge and application of research-based best practice skills

·         Experience in leadership committees/teams to improve student achievement

·         Ability to use data to plan and implement instruction for diverse learners
