Qualifications:

 

Required: 

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License or eligible for Colorado Teaching License
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual Education (BIED) or Linguistically Diverse Education Endorsement (LDE) or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Endorsement
  • K-12 Level

Preferred:
  • Previous documented successful experience with ESL instruction
  • Knowledge of and experience with Colorado English Language Acquisition Standards, Language Arts Standards, literacy instruction, and the five components of reading
  • Willingness to continue professional development in the areas of ESL literacy and Language Arts
  • Bilingual including English
  • Knowledge of SIOP strategies, SIOP trained, or SIOP certified

Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required paperwork and reports
  • Complete Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP) folders
  • Partner with grade level and content-area teachers
  • Provide English Language Learners with appropriate ESL instruction and core content area support to students
  • Provide mainstream classroom assistance to English Language Learners
  • Administer all State and District Assessments
  • Participate in monthly ESL department meetings and related professional development
