Reports to: Facility Manager Overview: This position is responsible for performing tasks related to maintaining and improving the Facility grounds. Qualifications:
- Physical ability to perform responsibilities listed below
- Neat and clean appearance
- Able to get along with adults and students
- Good moral character, honest, dependable, and courteous
- Able to follow instructions and must have quality of inquiring before taking action on items with which one is not familiar
- Good health with adequate strength and endurance to perform the work described in various type of weather
- Ability to use grounds maintenance tools and equipment as required
- Must possess or obtain a valid Class B driver's license and be insurable
- Willing and able to become certified in grounds management, sports turf management, arboriculture and/or pesticide application
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to maintain effective relations with supervisor and fellow employees
- Ability to follow and apply safety rules and regulations for job assignments and equipment used
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing 75 pounds
- Willing to be trained as required
- Three years experience in professional grounds maintenance
- Computer knowledge and ability or commitment to gain knowledge and experience to use computerized programs such as email, internet, word processing and spreadsheets
Responsibilities:- Plant, trim, mow, weed, spray, fertilize, sweep, rake, cultivate, dig, water, shovel or plow snow, remove ice, spread salt and/or other related functions of a grounds keeper with directions from crew leader
- Operate and maintain various types of equipment, including power mowers, saws, edgers, and shears
- Operate light or medium weight trucks to pick up and deliver materials and supplies
- Operate light or medium tractors and attachments used to maintain grounds as needed
- Prepare and maintain athletic fields
- Assist in snow removal including parking lot plowing when needed
- Work as directed by Facility Manager
- Remain up to date and informed as to current practices of job related functions
- Work with other people that may be contacted in an agreeable manner
- Cooperate with other people within the department and other department personnel in completing assigned tasks
- Display the necessary initiative and dependability to work alone or in groups
- Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with department policies and procedures
- Attend department meetings as required
- Participate in fire and disaster programs as directed
- Assist other District Maintenance personnel when needed and/or during slow grounds season
