ENRICHMENT ASSISTANT

 

Purpose Statement

The job of K-5 Enrichment Assistant was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for collaborating with classroom teachers in creating, developing, and presenting comprehensive enrichment programs for K-5 students; maintaining records; and advising teacher of student status.

This job reports to Administrator/Supervisor

Essential Functions

·         Assesses students’ learning, participation and/or skills for the purpose of providing quality, age-appropriate instruction.

·         Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. Reading Enrichment Program, writing, math, reading stories, listening to students reading, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and reaching their academic goals and potential.

·         Guides students in independent study (e.g. enrichment work, remedial work, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in the evaluation of students’ progress in relation to established educational objective.

·         Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.

·         Maintains classroom equipment, work area, students files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials, daily tracking of students progress, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.

·         Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference materials.

·         Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment.

·         Prepares teaching materials and related reports (e.g. attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.

Other Functions

·         Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
