PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

The Printer's Aide/Typesetter is to relieve the Instructor/ Manager of typesetting permitting maximum attention to be devoted to education.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

TEA certification requirements

High School Graduate or GED

Type 60 wpm

A thorough knowledge of modern business practices and procedures and of English, Spelling, and Commercial Terminology

Experience in Macintosh II, Mac Plus or equal

Experience in performing stenographic and clerical work

Willing to work with high school students

Willing to work with print shop staff and customers

Willing to learn about the printing process in order to prepare typesetting material properly

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Typeset materials for printing.
  • Layout forms on computers.
  • Store and retrieve typeset materials.
  • Paste-up typeset materials as needed.
  • Preventive maintenance for computers and related equipment.
  • Demonstrate and train students to operate the computers and related equipment.
  • Process printing orders.
  • Estimate printing cost and make invoices.
  • Maintain paper inventory records, according to established procedures.
  • Prepare correspondence, memorandum, forms, requisitions and other records.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; and standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; exposure to hazardous chemicals
