Overview:

• Obtain necessary WIDA test certifications
• Administer WIDA W-APT and MODEL placement tests to determine student ESL eligibility
• Administer annual ACCESS test to ESL students to determine growth in English Language proficiency
• Plan and provide small group instruction to K-4 students in order to maximize their English proficiency
• Communicate with and provide instructional strategies to regular classroom teachers enabling them to increase the learning of ESL students in the regular classroom
• Determine appropriate ESL accommodations for students
• Assist with the administration of the Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System to ESL students
• Communicate ESL student progress to parents via parent conferences, IEP meetings, phone calls, etc.
• Work with district ESL team and school staffs to accomplish District ESL mission and goals
• Promote Capital’s ESL services at the annual Capital Education Faire

Qualification:

• DE Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) K-12 Certification
• Bilingual ability preferred (i.e. English/Spanish or English/Creole)

Standard Requirements

• Favorable Criminal Background Check for the candidate who is offered employment.
• Tuberculin test & physical.
• Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck.
