Qualifications:

  • State of Delaware Licensure
  • Master’s Degree
  • Certified CCC-SLP or CF-SLP (will accept someone during their CFY year)
  • American Sign Language (ASL) preferred or willingness to learn
  • Experience and knowledge working with deaf students (preferred)

Responsibilities:
  • Screens students for possible speech and/or language problems
  • Evaluates speech/language of students in the school or in the home environments
  • Schedules individual and small group therapy sessions for those students identified as having speech and/or language problems
  • Co-teaches in a classroom for deaf and hard of hearing students utilizing best practices in auditory/oral instruction 
  • Interprets students’ special speech and language needs to principals, teachers and parents when necessary, and coordinates speech/language activities with classroom teacher when possible
