Qualifications:
-
State of Delaware Licensure
- Master’s Degree
- Certified CCC-SLP or CF-SLP (will accept someone during
their CFY year)
- American Sign Language (ASL) preferred or willingness to
learn
- Experience and knowledge working with deaf students (preferred)
Responsibilities:- Screens students for possible speech and/or language
problems
- Evaluates speech/language of students in the school or in
the home environments
- Schedules individual and small group therapy sessions for
those students identified as having speech and/or language problems
- Co-teaches in a classroom for deaf and hard of hearing
students utilizing best practices in auditory/oral instruction
- Interprets students’ special speech and language needs to
principals, teachers and parents when necessary, and coordinates
speech/language activities with classroom teacher when possible
