Description:
WORK YEAR: 7 hours per day: approx. 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
CLASSIFICATION: B-2-2;
SALARY: $14.00 per hour
Job Summary: *Proofreads student compositions, marking mechanical and organizational errors and errors in composition development, keeping in mind class ability level, teacher's instructions to students, and individual teacher's preference in marking and/or correcting errors. Reads grammar texts, uses the dictionary or material assigned to students, or observes classes as necessary for evaluating compositions. *Assists students individually in regard to their writing and the composition process; assists students with specific writing problems as directed by teachers. *Checks spelling or objective tests using a key. *Corrects short answer quizzes including one word answers, short essay and vocabulary, assigning point value to each answer determining whether the content meets all points established by the teacher. *May also answer phones, type from written copy, machine score tests, photocopy, and relay messages. *Performs tasks within the level of responsibility of position as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications: *Required: 48 college semester credits or a two-year degree or completion of the Para Pro test. Please include transcript(s) with application. *Excellent composition skills. *Computer (keyboarding/word processing) skills. *Good organizational skills. *Regular, on-time attendance is required. *Ability to work with students and teachers.
