Special Education -ED Classroom

Full time teaching position for an intermediate elementary classroom for students with Emotional Disturbance.  The classroom may have up to 10 students at one time and 12 students on the case load. 

Students placed in this program present with significant behavioral and emotional needs, and may have medical needs as well.  Physical and verbal aggression is a regular occurrence. 

Requirements:

• Valid Ohio Teaching License - Intervention Specialist
• Moderate to Intense preferred.  Mild to Moderate also considered
• Skill in CPI physical management is required along with the ability to skillfully de-escalate students who are agitated
• Crisis management skills are a must and participation on the building crisis management team is expected
• Must be able to facilitate a manifestation determination hearing and work constructively with upset parents
• Experience working with a range of disabilities is desired (ED, CD, Autism, OHI)
• Skilled in teaming with general education teachers when working to include students in general education settings
• Ability to supervise and coach classroom aides
• Ability to work on teams and facilitate team meetings
