Qualifications
1.
Technical college degree as a network technician specialist
2.
Be skilled in Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network
(WAN) installation, maintenance, and support.
3.
Must have knowledge of appropriate hardware and software
resources.
4.
Must be familiar with state-of-the-art technologies as they
pertain to school applications.
Job Description
The network technician shall:
1.
Complete repairs of all computer equipment.
2.
Facilitate all staff and students with computer usage.
3.
Provide technical assistance to departments in the school.
4.
Keep a current inventory of software and hardware.
5.
Regularly inspect usage of communication and network technology
to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and local
policies, report violations of system abuse and provide evidence
of such abuse to the District Administrator.
6.
Ensure compliance with software licensing and report any
unauthorized software on district computers.
7.
Assist management team with retrieval and analysis of network
system materials during investigations and in preparation of
management's grievance defense.
8.
Monitor and ensure optimal operation of confidential
administrative computer systems and software including financial
management and personnel files.
9.
Conduct administrative investigations of staff on issues related
to technology use and misuse for the purpose of disciplinary
action, create reports to the management team documenting misuse
and recommend discipline.
10.
Make recommendations for technology upgrades and purchases in the
area of technology.
11.
Administer, install, or troubleshoot communication hardware or
software.
12.
Integrate technologies to meet demands for information
sharing.
13.
Apply network and telecommunication concepts using current
networking software.
14.
Understand basic network and telecommunication concepts.
15.
Understand and participate in structured System Development Life
Cycle tasks of an information system from an initial request
through implementation and system operation.
16.
Effectively interact with network operating systems to maintain
user access, user rights, and network system
resources.
17.
Security Administrator responsible for protecting the school
district's confidential and vital data within the network and
communication systems through the recommendation of policies and
procedures regarding various protections (i.e., passwords and
login procedures) to ensure confidentiality between the various
information systems and their users
(students/staff/administration/public).
18.
Effectively present project status and outcomes of network
requests.
19.
Identify influences and constraints of a new or existing
network and evaluate their impact on the network
design.
20.
Security Administrator responsible for protecting the school
district's confidential labor relations information.
21.
Recommend district purchases and the development of policy as to
software, hardware, networking equipment.
22.
Attend management/supervisory meetings where policy decisions are
made.
23.
Assist in investigating potential misuse of district technology
by employees and students.
