Description: Special education teacher with knowledge and skills necessary to work in an inclusive model with those students with mild to moderate autism. The focus is on instruction in social skills, self-advocacy, and helping students become college ready. Experience with instruction of basic academic skills is necessary to be successful in this position. Job Summary: Work with students in our high school using techniques to teach social skills, helping students understand and meeting their sensory needs, and helping students in basic academic skill development are all part of this job. We use an inclusive model so much collaboration with general education staff and paraprofessionals is necessary. This position will work with another teacher of students with autism in somewhat of a co-teaching model.
Qualifications: Licensed in special education with practical experience with techniques and strategies used with students with ASD. An autism certificate is not necessary but will be given consideration.
