1.0  FTE cultural liaison/behavior interventionist

Robbinsdale Middle School

188 days or 38 weeks per year; 8 hours per day plus a half hour unpaid lunch beginning August 27, 2012

Program Assistant Terms and Conditions of Employment, job level seven, $32,952 to $39,570 based on the 2012-13 salary schedule plus benefits.

Reports to the   Assistant Director of Special Education - Secondary Programs

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·            Collaborate with building administration and PBIS problem-solving team to implement effective positive behavioral strategies.

·          Assist the school PBIS Coordinator with the implementation of supplemental and intensive behavior interventions.

·          Assist school personnel with family and staff communication related to behavior interventions and supports.

·          Manage electronic behavior data collection system (CICO, SWIS).

·          Facilitate communication between students, parents, special education teachers and support staff and outside agency staff.

·          Support student success in the classroom and school environment.

·          Participate in problem-solving groups with staff, students and families.

·          Provide case management for identified students requiring Tier II behavior   interventions

·          Act as consultant to teachers, administrators and other staff regarding culture, heritage and background of students and families.

·          Demonstrate skills in working collaboratively with education and community-based agencies in development and implementation of plans to address individual student's needs.

·          Other tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·          Bachelor's degree required; background in education, counseling or social work preferred.

·          Experience working with adolescents.

·          Demonstrate knowledge and ability to deliver positive behavior intervention and support.

·          Knowledge of diversity issues and the African American community.

·          Effective communication and human relations skills.

·          Knowledge and skills in group facilitation.

·          Collaborative problem-solving skills.

·          Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·          Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
