ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties may be assigned by the Food Service Director

 

·    Regular and predictable attendance

·    Accurately operates computerized POS (Point of Sale) system - to include: maintaining accurate records related to money handling and student accounts.  Also responsible for preparing, maintaining and submitting all required forms (i.e. daily cash & meal reports, deposit slips, etc.)

·    Performs all general kitchen duties under the supervision of the Cafeteria Leader

·    Assists in preparing serving counter and serving during lunch time

·    Assists with catered events as needed

·    Washes pots and pans; assists with daily kitchen clean-up

·    Assists with inventories

·    Maintains proper food handling/storage procedures

·    Performs related work as assigned by the Cafeteria Leader

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

·      High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

·      Must be in good health and physical condition and shall comply with local and state regulations with respect to medical requirements

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

·    Must be eligible to work in the United States

·  Possess the ability to work cooperatively with other employees

·  Working knowledge of the basic philosophy and functions of the National School Lunch Program

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job .

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and is occasionally required to move about the school.  The employee is required to prepare food and operate computer equipment.  The employee must be able to position themselves to access the computer Point of Sale System and to replenish food lines.  The employee will communicate with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  The employee may occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:   The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff and occasionally with the public.  At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Work year is determined by the number of days students are in attendance during the regular school calendar. The workday is 3.0 hours per day.  The hourly rate is based on the MEA/Local Four collective bargaining agreement.
