E.L. Haynes Public Charter School
was founded in 2004 and has an award-winning program based on effective
practices for advancing student achievement. E.L. Haynes is among the top-performing
charter schools in Washington D.C., and is recognized locally and nationally as
a model and for our exceptional student achievement gains. E.L. Haynes
currently serves over 800 students in grades PreK-9 and continues to grow until
it serves PreK-12th grade.

Description
The Food Service Manager is an important
position to the operation of the school.
The Food Service Manager reports to the Operations Manager.
The following is a general list of
responsibilities of the position—additional duties may be assigned.

Order
breakfast, lunch and snack through the school caterer.
·
Monitor
consumption rates to minimize wastefulness through ordering.
·
Be
aware of and order in accordance with student allergies and preferences.
·
Attend
all OSSE trainings and seminars regarding the NSLP and HAS.
·
Maintain
up to date Food Service Certifications including the Food Handlers License.
·
Record
temperatures of food and appliances being used for food service as necessary.
·
Work
closely with the school caterer to make sure food meets the NSLP & HSA
regulations and is appetizing to students.
·
Maintain
a clean service area that is compliant with DOH regulations.
·
Wipe
down surfaces, sweep and mop the floor before, during and after meal times.
·
Prepare
the Edit Check for the monthly NSLP & HSA claims.
·
Act as
the primary contact for the Department of Health and the Childcare Subsidy
Program and confirm that all procedures and facilities are compliant.
·
Integrate
school activities and events into menu planning and cafeteria aesthetics.
·
Collaborate
with other Food Service Managers on best practices regularly.
·
Assist
the Year Round Program in ordering, counting and claiming snack.
·
Take on
a leadership role around one of the following as qualifications and interests
dictate: Compliance & Recoupment, Nutrition & Health or Culture &
Environment.
