SALARY RANGE: $ 45,000 - $ 52,000
SUMMARY
Responsible for the coordination of the High School athletic programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and maintain an athletics program which emphasizes safety, healthy life choices, and the welfare of the participants.
Strive to develop in participants the concepts of discipline, hard work, desire to excel, and dedication to the sports of their choosing.
Hire and mentor a coaching staff that believes in the value of educational athletics. That is to promote athletics as a component of the educational process, where students learn valuable lessons in practice and competition that will shape their future.
Work in collaboration with participants, coaches, community members, and other staff to find solutions to issues.
Assure all staff are properly qualified, and when appropriate, certified, as well as annually evaluated.
Administer the rules and regulations of the MHSAA.
Process and maintain grade eligibility reports as required by the MHSAA and Dexter Community Schools
Assure all programming meets Title IX compliance.
Assure procedures related to safe activities, including access to water, shade, and other inclement weather related protections are in place and followed.
Develop and implement a system of regular communication with community members, booster clubs, and organizations.
Build and re-build positive relationships with all athletic stake-holder groups.
Meet regularly with related booster clubs and advisory groups and coordinate their efforts to meet the mission of the department.
Responsible for home team management as required at various athletic contests.
Coordinate game workers or helpers as needed at home athletic events.
Coordinate game security if necessary.
Maintain payroll records and prepare payroll for officials, event managers and event workers.
Coordinate all paperwork between coaches and program volunteers.
Process paperwork on new coaches and athletic staff including background checks before they begin coaching.
Schedule appropriate transportation as necessary for away contests and communicate changes as they occur.
Process check requests and purchase orders for athletics.
Develop, implement and monitor cash and fee collection procedures to maximize receipts and assure auditing standards are met.
Monitor and track balances of booster club and donation accounts of individual teams.
Coordinate maintenance of athletic facilities and preparation with the Buildings & Grounds Department.
Coordinate athletic trainer’s schedule.
Maintain district permanent athletic records of all athletic teams: win-loss records, conference standings, personal athletic records, championships, etc.
Coordinate with Middle School Athletic Director all necessary requirements for home/away athletic events.
Effectively communicate with building staff and/or building principals and administrators regarding athletic programs as necessary.
Coordinate services with various departments to ensure effective utilization of facilities and services.
Process equipment and supply requests in order to facilitate coaches and programs.
Design and implement a strength and condition program.
Make recommendations to the Executive Director of Support Services for program improvements – department purchases, facilities, staffing.
Meet monthly with Executive Director of Support Services regarding budget, staffing or other departmental issues.
Assist Executive Director of Support Services and Community Education Director with marketing, fundraising and sponsorship efforts and seek out other avenues of revenue.

DUTIES IN COORDINATION WITH DISTRICT COACHING STAFF
Process equipment and supply requests in order to facilitate coaches and programs.
Plan with coaches the transportation schedule for all away games.
Schedule facilities for all tournaments and invitational’s with coaches.
Assist and schedule game workers if applicable.
Assist and schedule athletic awards and banquets with coaching staff as necessary.
Relay to coaching staff photography companies and yearbook staff to coordinate all team pictures.
Relay to coaching staff information to develop publicity insuring that scores/photos/articles appear in papers and that equal opportunity is given to all sports.
Check eligibility of all athletes including grades, physicals, emergency consent forms and handbook forms.
Process and maintain grade eligibility reports as required.
Order certificates and/or awards for all end-of-the-season banquets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS
Demonstrated computer experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications
Ability to organize and accurately prepare and maintain records and reports
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to analyze work, anticipate problems and provide solutions
Ability to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision
Ability to maintain confidential information
Ability to set, manage and coordinate multiple priorities
Interpersonal and judgment skills necessary to work effectively with staff, students, parents and community
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum High School Diploma required
Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred In Kinesiology, Physical Education, Athletic Administration preferred
Experience in athletics or athletic programs preferred
