  A Distinctive Interventionist will:

  •          Support the vision and mission of the Distinctive Schools network.  A DS interventionist will exhibit professional judgment and demonstrate behaviors that are professional, ethical, and responsible.
  •          Collaborate with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
  •          Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.
  •          Present subject matter to students using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods from prescribed curriculum
  •          Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master skills and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  •          Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
  •          Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
  •          Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress.
  •          Organize and label materials, and track student work in a way to be readily available for problem solving discussions
  •          Participate in problem-solving RTI meetings and teacher-parent conferences regarding students' progress or needs.
  •         Plan, prepare, and develop various instructional materials based on student need
  •          Prepare lessons based on student target area and prescribed curriculum
  •          Enforce behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, psychologists, or speech-language pathologists
  •          Use Mileposts system to create intervention plans for students on caseload
  •          Promote professional improvement through reading educational journals and books, exploring educational research, enrolling in college courses, participating in all network and campus level professional staff development activities.
  •          Comply with all network policies as outlined in Distinctive Schools Employee Handbook.
  •          Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents, principals and other colleagues.
  •          Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  •         Attend various school events throughout the school year to be a visible face to families and students.
  •          Complete other tasks/duties as required by Distinctive Schools and the campus leadership teams/Director.
