*John Glenn Middle School opened in the
fall of 1962 and has the distinction of being the first school
named in honor of astronaut John Glenn.
The school is home today to 770
students in grades six, seven and eight.
*During the 2011-12 school year, over
87% of John Glenn students participated in at least one
after school activity.
Activities at John Glenn range from
sports to academic clubs to knitting, strength training,
kayaking, and chess.
*John Glenn boasts an outstanding
teaching staff.
The teachers at John Glenn value
each student and work diligently to help all students
reach their highest levels of achievement. 69% of
the teachers at John Glenn have earned a Master's
degree.
*Students at John Glenn complete
courses in Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies,
Physical Education, Health, Industrial Technology, Family
and Consumer Sciences, Art, Band, Choir, French, German,
and Spanish.
*John Glenn is home to a number of
unique special education programs.
District 622's FAN (Functional
Academic Needs) and MN (Multiple Needs) programs are part
of the John Glenn family.

This program is used as a benchmark

John Glenn Middle School is seeking a highly
qualified and highly skilled Assistant Principal. The
Assistant Principal will be expected to be a highly skilled and
technically proficient member of the administrative team and
support the administrative team in all its functions. In
addition to playing a significant role in school management,
the Assistant Principal will be expected to be strong in
educational leadership and a culturally responsive
educator.
The Assistant Principal position is 'full year'
(248 days). Salary will be calculated from the ISD
622 principal salary schedule.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
instructional leadership, school management, teacher
evaluation, student discipline, breakfast/lunch supervision,
bus supervision, school safety, pupil needs, Jet Pride/PBIS,
classroom walkthroughs, custodial supervision, and student
assistance team.
